Wang Qingxian, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shandong Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, met with some students of the second short-term media workshop for the Belt and Road News Network (BRNN) on Oct. 26 in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong Province.

Wang briefed the visitors on the achievements of Qingdao City since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 70 years ago, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, and the city’s efforts and progress in such aspects as integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), promoting the replacement of old economic growth drivers, and development of marine economy.

He hopes Chinese and foreign media can learn from each other and help each other to contribute to the inheriting, passing on and development of friendship, said Wang.

The BRNN Media Workshop was hosted by the State Council Information Office of China. It was jointly organized by the Secretariat of BRNN (the External Relations Department of People’s Daily) and Communication University of China.

A total of 28 heads, editors-in-chief, general managers, senior editors and reporters of 27 mainstream media outlets from 12 countries participated in the second short-term BRNN Media Workshop, which kicked off on Oct. 21 in Beijing. The students who recently visited Qingdao were mainly from Europe and Central Asia.
