Clued-in | Japan's military ambitions: A 'submerged' threat

According to Japanese media reports, multiple sources familiar with the matter said that the Japanese government has begun considering the full-scale development and introduction of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) equipped with anti-ship strike capabilities, as part of its efforts to strengthen its defense posture in the Pacific.

In recent years, Japan has continuously increased its defense spending and introduced various types of weapons and equipment to bolster its so-called "defense capabilities." In reality, Japan currently faces no actual security threats in the Pacific region.

Japan's development of large UUVs with offensive capabilities has exposed its ever-growing military ambitions. A series of moves by the Japanese government to expand its military forces and build up armaments runs counter to the spirit of Japan's pacifist Constitution, intensifies regional tensions, and undermines peace and stability in the region.
