In the first three quarters of 2026, China's equipment manufacturing industry played a leading role in the country's export, contributing nearly 90 percent of export growth, according to a recent press conference held by the State Council Information Office in Beijing.
The export value of ships exceeded 350 billion RMB, increasing by 24.6 percent. The export of 300,000-deadweight-tonne oil tankers, large liquefied petroleum gas carriers and liquefied natural gas carriers has all grown substantially, Wang Jun, vice minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, said.
The total export value of industrial robots reached nearly 10 billion RMB in the first three quarters. Exports of electric vehicles and lithium batteries increased by 72.3 percent and 36.4 percent respectively.
From fingernail-sized high-speed optical communication modules to AI computing server racks weighing several tonnes, Chinese companies are supplying the hardware that powers the global AI boom. Their products also span the energy sector, from household electrical wires to ultra-high-voltage converter transformers for long-distance, high-capacity power transmission, and from individual batteries to containerized integrated energy storage systems.
With these offerings, Chinese companies are providing practical, proven and reliable products, expertise and solutions to support global computing infrastructure, grid stability and secure electricity supplies, Wang said.
In the first nine months, China's export of integrated circuits surged by 99.1 percent, computer accessories by 2.1 times and storage components like solid state disks by 1.3 times. These Chinese products not only provided stable supply of middle products in the global computing industrial chain, but also facilitated the construction of global computing infrastructure, Wang said.
In power generation, exports of photovoltaic products rose by 10.3 percent, while exports of wind turbines and their components increased by 22.4 percent, helping meet global demand for clean energy.
In power transmission, exports of wires and cables grew by 28.1 percent, and transformer exports rose by 22.5 percent. In energy storage, exports of batteries of various types increased by 34.8 percent, reaching more than 200 countries and regions.
In response to the global trend toward more scenario-specific and personalized consumer products, China focuses not only on scale but also on customer needs, valuing small orders and niche demands as much as large ones.
For example, immersive first-person short videos are gaining international popularity. In response, Chinese enterprises have developed portable filming devices with functions such as subject tracking, voice and gesture controls, and AI-powered automatic editing, which are welcomed by short video creators around the globe. In the first three quarters, the export of digital cameras increased by 40.5 percent.
China will accelerate the development of a modern industrial system underpinned by advanced manufacturing, offering trade partners and consumers worldwide a wider range of choices through manufacturing that combines cutting-edge innovation with practical solutions to everyday needs, Wang said.
