China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), a Chinese multinational corporation providing solutions and services for global energy and power, infrastructure and green low-carbon development, actively participates in high-quality energy development in the Lancang-Mekong countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, while deeply cultivating the Southeast Asian market under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The five Lancang-Mekong countries are key markets for CEEC’s overseas business. CEEC subsidiaries entered Vietnam and other countries in the 1980s and were among the first Chinese companies to begin operating in the Lancang-Mekong countries. After more than 30 years of development, over 30 subsidiaries have set up branches in five countries.
To date, CEEC has constructed 107 hydropower plants, thermal power plants, power transmission and water projects worth over $9 billion in the Lancang-Mekong region. These endeavors have contributed to improving infrastructure construction and the well-being of local people.

“CEEC has built many projects in Vietnam, especially in the field of new energy, which has contributed to local social and economic development,” said Nguyen Xuan Dan, chief of the News Department of Vietnam Parliament Television. In the future, more efforts should be made in publicizing this work, helping the public understand the possibility of transitioning to new energy in the Lancang-Mekong countries, he added.
“We are very happy to see CEEC investing in these countries, which boosts our energy development. Development without energy is nothing, so we greatly appreciate seeing more investment from the company into our country,” said Soy Sophea, editor-in-chief of Deum Ampil Media Center, Cambodia.
