In Guangzhou, one of the starting points of the Maritime Silk Road, the participants explored the city's experience of urban governance, and its efforts to inherit and develop local culture. Eight winners of the international journalism award under the Belt and Road cooperation drew ink-and-wash paintings of Bombax ceiba, the city flower of Guangzhou, and wrote “Fu,” which means fortune, in Chinese calligraphy, in Yongqing Fang historical alleyways. The red and beautiful Bombax ceiba symbolized the thriving Belt and Road cooperation, while the calligraphy works of Fu showed their sincere wishes for the Belt and Road cooperation.
"Through this event, I firmly believe that media exchanges and cooperation among the BRI partner countries will grow closer and exert a profound impact on the cultural exchanges and mutual learning between these countries," said Borić Faruk, Executive Director of the Center for the Promotion and Development of Belt and Road Initiative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Launched by the Belt and Road News Network and organized by its council chair, People's Daily, the SRGNA encourages media outlets of BRI partner countries to promote high-quality co-construction of the BRI. Starting Oct. 20, the journey of the journalists includes learning about local culture, development, engaging in exchanges, and reporting relevant BRI stories in six Chinese cities.
