China's new energy vehicles win global consumers

China's new energy vehicles (NEVs) continue to draw global attention. At the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2025), their striking high-tech features and high cost-performance ratio attracted throngs of international visitors.

In 2024, China's annual production of NEVs broke through the historic milestone of 10 million units, reaching 12.89 million units. China's NEV sales accounted for 70 percent of global sales.

International organizations and analysts generally believe that China's NEV market will continue to grow, and become an important force for the green and low-carbon development of the global automotive industry. So what makes foreign media so confident about the prospects of the Chinese market?

China has a population of over 1.4 billion and a large middle-income group. The super large market makes it possible for China's NEVs to develop on a large scale.

According to an article in the German newspaper the Münchner Merkur, or Munich Mercury in English, the average age of Chinese NEV consumers is only 34 years old, far lower than the 56 years old in the European Union. Winning young people is winning the future market.

From overall performance to design, and from in-place U-turns to bouncing "flying" tech, China's NEVs have seized the "key variable" of technological innovation.

As the world pushes forward with green transformation, China's NEV industry is accelerating toward a brighter future, no "high walls" or "small yards" can slow it down.
