President Xi inspects Longmen Grottoes in C China's Henan

Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a history of over 1,500 years in Luoyang, central China's Henan Province on May 19, 2025.

Xi learned about local efforts in enhancing the protection and utilization of historical and cultural heritage, and promoting the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism sector.

With 2,345 grottoes and niches, over 110,000 Buddhist stone statues and more than 2,800 inscribed tablets, the Longmen Grottoes tell the stories of the ages and showcase the pinnacle of Chinese stone carving art, embodying the unique charm of Eastern culture among World Heritage sites.
