Over the past two days, China and the United States have "conducted professional, rational, in-depth and candid exchanges," stated Li Chenggang, China's international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, on Tuesday. Li made these comments following the first meeting of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism in London. He noted that both sides have agreed in principle on a framework to implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state during their phone conversation on June 5, as well as agreements made during the talks in Geneva.
