NW China's Yinchuan launches AI agent to boost economy, trade, culture, and tourism

The Yinchuan municipal government in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in collaboration with People's Daily Online, jointly launched the "AI Yinchuan" intelligent agent for economy, trade, culture, and tourism on Sept. 22, 2025.

The launch ceremony was attended by Zhao Xuhui, member of the standing committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Yinchuan municipal committee; Tao Shaohua, deputy secretary of the CPC Yinchuan municipal committee and mayor of Yinchuan; and Ye Zhenzhen, president of People's Daily Online and director of the State Key Laboratory of Communication Content Cognition.

"AI Yinchuan" is the latest scientific and technological achievement born from the collaboration between Yinchuan and People's Daily Online. It provides an intelligent service system focused on the economy, trade, culture, and tourism, while also covering public services, openness, and cooperation. Its innovative architecture integrates six core components: platform, data, computing power, algorithms, models, and intelligent agents.

"AI Yinchuan" adopts a "1+6" AI application framework. At its core is an intelligent translation system that supports both Chinese-Arabic and Chinese-English translation, serving as a "linguistic bridge" for cross-cultural exchanges, while also facilitating openness and cooperation with Arabic-speaking countries. This capability leverages Yinchuan's role as the permanent host city of the China-Arab States Expo to promote economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.

The six specialized applications of "AI Yinchuan" address practical needs in the economy, trade, culture, and tourism. Its intelligent itinerary planning system offers comprehensive travel solutions covering transportation, accommodation, and ticketing. Its AI tour assistant utilizes English and Arabic natural language processing to introduce tourist attractions and delicacies, thereby avoiding cultural miscommunication. In addition, its city brand promotion system analyzes audience preferences to generate tailored, multilingual content that enhances Yinchuan's global image.

Yinchuan Mayor Tao Shaohua described the launch as a pivotal step for the city's entry into the intelligent era and its advancement of high-quality development through AI, while also highlighting it as a model of cooperation with People's Daily Online.

As a core hub in China's east-to-west computing resource transfer project, Yinchuan is poised to become a leading center in western China, cultivating fertile ground for the growth of the digital economy and innovation.
