South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been actively developing artificial intelligence (AI) application scenarios in recent years, leveraging AI to empower industries and drive deeper integration between AI technologies and the real economy, according to the regional development and reform commission on Sept. 30, 2025.
The region has established a "5+N" support system to provide strong policy and institutional guarantees. The "5" refers to the regional development and reform commission, big data development bureau, industry and information technology department, science and technology department, and industrial park reform and development office, while "N" represents other government agencies related to specific application fields. This framework has formed a complete workflow covering the entire process from scenario identification and development to promotion.

Regional departments and local governments have issued or are formulating over 70 AI-related policy documents tailored to local conditions, forming a multi-sector policy framework that provides strong support for AI scenario innovation.
AI applications are expanding across multiple industries and delivering promising results. Since the beginning of this year, Guangxi has collected over 1,000 AI application scenarios through press conferences, cross-border promotional events, and AI roadshows. These collected application scenarios cover 10 major fields and 65 industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, and energy.
Guangxi has also made new strides in international AI cooperation. In September, the National Development and Reform Commission and Guangxi jointly hosted the 2025 China-ASEAN Ministerial Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence, during which China and ASEAN countries launched the China-ASEAN Countries Artificial Intelligence (AI) Application Cooperation Center.
Based in Guangxi, the center will focus on strengthening AI development foundations, providing open-source services, enhancing industrial cooperation, and fostering talent development to deepen collaboration between China and ASEAN nations. It aims to share development dividends among participating countries and help build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
To date, over 90 cooperative projects between Guangxi and ASEAN countries have been launched in the first batch.
Leading AI companies such as iFlytek, Qi An Xin Group, Amap, and Alibaba Cloud have established operations in Guangxi. In the first half of this year, the region signed 94 new AI industry projects with a total investment of 48.1 billion yuan (about $6.76 billion). The number of AI-related enterprises operating in Guangxi reached 2,708 in 2024, marking a 32.55 percent increase from 2023.
