Mixed-ethnic village in N China thrives on integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism

Bayanaobao village in Horqin Right Wing Middle Banner, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, enjoys favorable natural conditions, set against a mountain and beside a river. It is home to 1,036 residents from five ethnic groups, namely Han, Mongolian, Manchu, Dai and Russian.

In 2024, an eco-tourism resort inside the village was designated a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The scenic area now welcomes around 100,000 tourist visits each year, increasing villagers' annual per capita income by more than 3,000 yuan (about $444.49).

Over the years, the village has made ecological conservation the cornerstone of its development. By tapping into distinctive local resources, it has enabled the integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism, injecting momentum into rural revitalization.
