5,300-square-meter flower display draws crowds in Xiamen

A vibrant sea of autumn flowers spanning 5,300 square meters is in full bloom on Haiyang Island at Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden in Jimei district, Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, attracting large numbers of visitors.

More than 10 kinds of flowers bloom across the island, among them cockscombs, globe amaranths, Egyptian starclusters, begonias and Siam tulips.

Red, yellow, orange, blue and pink stand out against green trees, clear water and open sky, with the city beyond.

Visitors weave along the paths through the flower beds. Some stop to photograph the blooms, while others stroll on with family and friends.

A visitor surnamed Wang, from Shenyang in northeast China's Liaoning Province, said she had made a point of visiting the flower display during her National Day trip to Xiamen after seeing it on social media.

She said the blooms made her autumn sightseeing trip especially enjoyable, and that even her casual snapshots came out looking impressive.
